So, who am I?
My name is Kim André Vaksdal. I’m a 101001 year old man (wow, a binary joke already, really!?) who is lucky enough to have job which is also a big part of my hobbies. I have been around computers for a very long time – and besides just gaming the hell out of them the first years, I’ve always been intrigued in how the work and how you can manipulate them into doing what you want – particularly if you can get them into doing things automatically. Playing around with music production (Fasttracker, Fruityloops+++) and basic programming (Java, html, php, VB.net+++) was a big part of me growing up.
When I’m not at my computer, my passions is my family, music, working in and around our house, hiking outside with the family and whisky, specially Scottish single malts. Making good food in the evening with my wife and pairing that up with a good wine after a long good hike is our definition of a perfect weekend!
Currently I’m working in a company called Voss herad (which is a municipality) as an IT-Consultant and Project manager handling thousands of users and devices alongside all the infrastructure that comes with it, teamed up with an awesome IT-crew. Feel free to read some more about me at my LinkedIn-profile.
But to keep it fairly short, I like to think that I have both good strategic skills and organizational understanding alongside hands-on operational skills. I love to both discuss and plan how technology can impact and help an organization, and I also like very much to get my hands dirty and implement it. The latter gives me a good advantage and integrity in discussing digitalization with the stakeholders and decision makers – I love to know how things work technically.
Love every step of the process – from the planning, to implementation, to evaluation and continuous improvement.
Skilled in LEAN, ITIL and SCRUM and always strive for a structured and well thought-through plan with belonging documentation that will make better foundation for understanding, competence-sharing and easier implementation in both the department and in the whole organization.
The last years heavily focusing on the zero-trust approach, specialized on endpoint and identity management and overall security. And there is a good chance that this blog will reflect just that.
Every day you learn something new or help others to learn something new is a good day!
Feel free to contact me at any point if you like, no matter if you just want to say hi or if there is something you think I might be able to help you with. I am not a person who always thinks I’m right, so if you disagree with something I have said or written as well, feel free to tell me that too, I will be happy to discuss it and improve my own knowledge on the subject! 🙂
Update 05.05.2023
Yes! After attending SC-100, SC-200, SC-300, SC-400 and MS-500 – I decided to have a go at the SC-100 exam. That went well, and since my day-to-day work is heavily focused on security and especially on identity and access – I also went for the SC-300 exam. Passing that as well earned me a fancy-pancy sertification as a “Microsoft Certified Cybersecurity Architect EXPERT”!
